Directions:
Prepare the Patties:
In a bowl, mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Form into 2 thin patties, pressing slightly in the center for even cooking.
Sautรฉ Mushrooms and Onions:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions, stirring occasionally until tender and caramelized (8-10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
Cook the Patties:
In the same skillet, cook the beef patties for 4-5 minutes per side until they reach your desired doneness. Set aside.
Toast the Bread:
Butter one side of each bread slice. Optionally, spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the unbuttered side. Toast the bread in a skillet, buttered side down, over medium heat until golden (2-3 minutes per side).
Assemble the Patty Melt:
Place a slice of Swiss cheese on the unbuttered side of two bread slices.
Add a beef patty on top, followed by sautรฉed mushrooms and onions.
Top with another slice of Swiss cheese and close with the remaining bread slices, buttered side out.
Grill the Sandwich:
Place the sandwich back in the skillet. Grill over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden and the cheese melts.
Serve:
Slice in half and serve immediately with pickles or your favorite dipping sauce.
