This post is sponsored by Powerizer. As always, all opinions and ideas are entirely my own.
I love holiday meals, whether it’s a raucous Thanksgiving feast with the extended family, or a quiet Christmas Eve dinner with my husband and kids. I also love hosting holiday meals, because I have a lot of fun going “all out” with food and decor for the occasion! But between all the prep beforehand and the post-meal cleanup, hosting a holiday meal can be a LOT of work. And finding ways to simplify that work can make all the difference!
And I have just the thing to help me simplify the pre- and post-holiday meal cleanup this year—Powerizer! I’ve been a huge fan of this versatile and natural detergent for several months now. I’ve written about how to use it to clean your whole bathroom, and how to use it in your dishwasher. And today I’ll be sharing just how useful a tool Powerizer can be for holiday cleaning! Whether it’s before the holiday or cleaning up afterward, I’ll be using Powerizer for just about everything!
Before The Holiday
1. Cleaning Dishes & Flatware
If you have platters and flatware that you pull out for special occasions, they could probably use a good cleaning before the big day. You can use Powerizer to pre-soak all your special dishes and flatware. It’s the best way to loosen up any gunk that may have collected on them over the past year!
Just add 1 scoop to a sink full of hot water. Stir the water a bit to help the powder dissolve, then place your items in the water. Let them soak for an hour or two, depending on how grimy they are. Then rinse them with clean water, and wash if desired.
2. Washing Table Linens
If your tablecloth and cloth napkins have been sitting in storage, it’s probably a good idea to clean them up a bit! If any of your linens are still bearing last year’s food stains, pretreating them with Powerizer will help those stains come out in the wash. In a bucket or sink, add 1 scoop of Powerizer to 1 gallon of hot water and stir. Soak your linens in the solution for about 6 hours, then wring slightly and wash as usual.
You can also use Powerizer as your laundry detergent when you wash your table linens! Just add 1 scoop of Powerizer to the drum of your washer along with the linens. As they soak, the Powerizer detergent does all the hard work of oxidizing stains and brightening fabrics. Your linens will come out of the wash feeling soft, clean, and ready for your Thanksgiving table!
Bonus Tip: Get a perfectly pressed tablecloth without ironing! Just pull it out of the dryer while it’s still a bit damp, and spread it out on your table. Any wrinkles will fall out as the tablecloth finishes drying, leaving you with a perfectly wrinkle-free tablecloth!
