Between 30 and 35 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.

Make the frosting while the cake cools. Melt dark chocolate over simmering water in a heatproof bowl. Stir occasionally until smooth. Cool it for a few minutes. Heavy cream should be whipped to soft peaks in a separate bowl. While whisking, slowly add the melted chocolate. Continue whisking until the frosting becomes thick and glossy.

Place the cooled cake on a serving plate and generously spread the chocolate truffle frosting over the top and sides of the cake using a spatula or a cake decorating tool.
