Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Peppers:
    Cut off the tops and remove the seeds from the peppers. Parboil them for 5 minutes and then drain.
  2. Cook the Beef and Onion:
    In a skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Rice:
    Follow the package instructions to prepare the Rice-a-Roni mix. Once the rice is done, mix it with the cooked beef and onion.
  4. Stuff the Peppers:
    Stuff the parboiled peppers with the rice and beef mixture, packing it tightly.
  5. Make the Sauce:
    Combine the tomato sauce with 1 teaspoon of sugar and pour this around the stuffed peppers (not over them).
  6. Bake the Peppers:
    Cover the baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes. Uncover, top with shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  7. Serve:
    Serve the stuffed peppers with the tomato sauce from the baking dish for extra flavor.
