Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties:
    • In a large bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  2. Cook the Mushrooms:
    • Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
    • Stir in the mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown.
    • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute. Deglaze the pan with beef broth or white wine (optional) and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the Patties:
    • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
    • In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  4. Assemble the Burgers:
    • Toast the buns and spread your preferred condiments (mayonnaise, mustard, etc.) on each side.
    • Layer the bottom bun with lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles (if using).
    • Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, then generously spoon the sautéed mushrooms over the patty.
    • Add the top bun and serve immediately.
